AT&T Refarming 2G Spectrum in NYC for More 3G Capacity

AT&T today announced that it is reallocating some of its 2G bandwidth in New York City to its 3G and 4G networks. The move is being made, says AT&T, to help customers have a better overall experience with both voice and the mobile internet. AT&T has been contacting its customers in the NYC area with older phones and asking them to upgrade from 2G devices to 3G devices to help make room for the spectrum reallocation. It is offering them incentives to do so.
