Acer Intros Android-Based Smartphone with 4.8-Inch Display
At a media event in New York City, Acer introduced several new products, including a smartphone running Google's Android operating system. The phone, which doesn't have a name, sports a 4.8-inch LED backlit display with a 21:9 aspect ratio configuration and 1024 x 480 pixels. Acer says the device has a 1GHz processor and offers Bluetooth 3.0, 802.11n Wi-Fi, and HSDPA at 14.4Mbps radios. Other features include an 8 megapixel camera with flash, 2 megapixel secondary camera, HDMI with DLNA sharing, and Dolby Mobile. Acer doesn't have distribution deals with U.S. carriers yet, but said it is talking to them. The new smartphone is expected to reach the market by April 2011.
