And here we go: Verizon just announced its 4G LTE pricing and full list of coverage areas. Some 38 markets will go live when the switch is flipped on December 5, including Chicago, New York, San Francisco, and LA, and pricing starts at $50/month for 5GB of data, with an $80/month plan for 10GB. Overages run $10 per GB, which isn't insane, and there's also supplemental coverage in around 60 airports. Check the full PR after the break.
Update: Some highlights from today's press conference:
More modems will be coming out within "weeks" and are all backwards compatible with its EV-DO network.
Verizon will talk about "consumer-oriented devices" (translation: phones) at CES.
The modems are capable of 4G-to-3G handoff, but not 3G-to-4G -- they'll stay on 3G until you're done transmitting data.
The LTE and 3G plans might integrate, according to CTO Tony Melone, but probably not until 2012 or 2013.
It sounds like the modems will only be available in stores on December 5th -- no third-party retailers at first.

Coby rolls out $250 Kyros MID7015 Android tablet
Coby's been selling an Android tablet on the Home Shopping Network for a couple of months now, but it's just released another model that's now available at retailers across the US. That comes in the form of the Kyros MID7015, which is just about exactly what you'd expect a $250 Android tablet from Coby to be. That means you'll get a 7-inch resistive touchscreen, Android 2.1 (with apps from the AppsLib marketplace, not Android Market), 4GB of built-in memory, a microSD card slot for expansion and, somewhat notably, an HDMI port that promises to let you output full 1080p video. Ultrasn0w for iOS 4.2.1 almost ready
The iPhone Dev Team has said today that Ultrasn0w for Apple iOS 4.2.1 is about ready for distribution, giving users with the latest firmware update a way to unlock their iPhones.
Apple released the update on November 22nd.
The Dev Team already released an updated version of redsn0w, the tool used to easily jailbreak your devices, but many iPhone owners were waiting for a way to unlock their smartphones.
Unfortunately, the software only works with older iPhones, the 3G and 3GS models.
Says the team: "After redsn0w is officially released with the new Cydia and kernel patches, we�ll be able to assess the unlock situation. It�s already looking very promising though, so expect the unlock for the 3G and 3GS to be coming this week. The i4 unlock is taking more effort though, and no further concrete info is available about that yet."Permalink | Comments

Acer confirms plans for Windows Phone 7
We saw the briefest whisper of an indication a couple months ago, but now Acer CEO Gianfranco Lanci has come out and said it: Acer's working on Windows Phone 7. In an interview with Ina Fried, Gianfranco touched briefly on the company's plans for Microsoft's new OS, after an ill-fated stint with Windows Mobile not so long ago. Naturally, the addition of Windows Phone 7 won't be coming at the expense of Acer's newfound love of Android, but Lanci oddly says he sees for WP7 "the same opportunity you can see on Android in terms of customization." We don't know what sort of customization he could be referring to, but we're trembling in anticipation. So, let's just tally them up: MeeGo, Chrome OS, Windows Phone 7, Android, and, of course, Windows itself... pretty nice collection you've got for yourself, Acer.
