Verizon Wireless' Network Extender Adds 3G Data

Verizon Wireless is prepared to release a new version of its Network Extender femotcell product, which for the first time will allow users to access mobile data. The new Verizon Wireless 3G Network Extender works with both feature phones and smartphones, and allows users to make/receive phone calls, as well as send/receive SMS/MMS messages, emails, browse the web and stream video, among other things. The 3G Network Extender has a range of about 40 feet, and is made by Samsung. It will work with up to six separate Verizon Wireless devices. According to Verizon Wireless, customers can use the 3G Network Extender free of charge with no changes to their existing monthly plan(s). The Network Extender uses a customer's home broadband network to bridge the wireless device with Verizon's backhaul network. It costs $250.
