RIM Preparing New Business Features for BlackBerries

At meeting in Boston today, Research In Motion announced several new products and services that are on its roadmap for 2011. The first of which is called BlackBerry Mobile Voice System, which is a unified communications service for businesses that combines BlackBerry cellular, voice-over-Wi-Fi and PBX desk phone features into a single identity. Another product will create a firmer barrier between business and personal data on BlackBerries and is called BlackBerry Balance. This tool will let IT do things such as wipe only corporate data from a BlackBerry (leaving personal data lone), as well as prevent users from mixing work and personal data in email and other third-party programs. RIM is also preparing a BlackBerry-compatible client of Microsoft's SharePoint, which integrates components such as email, calendar, Documents To Go and the browser. RIM is hoping to launch these services in early 2011.
